where to stay by boat in friesland?

In Friesland, there are several possibilities to spend the night by boat. Whereas you pay for your mooring in a marina/campsite, those who do not mind staying in the middle of nature can spend the night for free on the Frisian waterways. This could be at the Mar buoys, jetties or sheet piling in the recreation area the Marrekrite. At the Mar buoys you can moor completely free of charge for 24 hours, at the jetties and sheet piling for a maximum of 3 nights!

free overnight stays by boat on a desert island.

In the Frisian waters there are more than 10 different uninhabited islands with jetties, where you can spend the night for free! The islands of Fluessen and the Tjeukemeer are particularly popular. All these free places to stay are thanks to the Marrekrite. A unique experience that you should definitely not miss!

Uninhabited island

the marrekrite friesland

The province of Friesland is not internationally renowned for its many lakes, waterways and open landscape for nothing. With its many beautiful villages and towns between all these waterways, it is a popular place for water sports enthusiasts. If it is up to the Marrekrite , it will stay that way for many years to come. They are doing a lot to achieve this.

For example, Marrekrite maintains 34 kilometres of free moorings in the middle of the countryside. Every day, they can offer more than 3,500 ships a berth at almost 300 locations.
Visitors can moor here for free for a maximum of 3 days.
The Marrekrite will come to you with a boat for a possible voluntary contribution of € 15.00 for a pennant. With this, the Marrekrite can use the costs for the maintenance of the jetties and sheet piling.

easy mooring with the convenience of a marauder buoy.

Free accommodation with sufficient privacy at the Marboeien.

There is one ship at each buoy, which gives you a lot of privacy. Where the buoys lie in groups, you are still alone, but also "together". Many people enjoy this interplay.
Mooring to a MarBoei is much easier than to a jetty. Only one line has to be fastened. The wind automatically keeps the ship away from the buoy. Because the buoy is made of soft plastic, it is no problem to tap it when mooring. A handy skipper can moor by himself if necessary and that within a minute. Sailing away is even simpler if necessary. For many people, sailing away is, like mooring, a moment of stress. With a MarBoei, this is out of the question. Perfect if you still have to get used to the ship!

And to make spending the night at MarBoeien even more romantic, several buoys have been renamed as poetic anchorages. On the website you will find the poems that are connected to the buoys.

Mrboei

paid overnight stays in marinas or passerinas.

In order to recharge the batteries and to be able to use the marina facilities, it is advisable to spend the night in a marina! You will pay between €10 and €30 per night, depending on the marina and the size of the boat. Every village and town in Friesland has marinas and/or ports of call.

What do we recommend? Friesland-Boating recommends a combination of these different places to spend the night. It is great to experience a night in the middle of the lake (Marboei) or at one of the other Marrekrite places. We recommend that after 1 max. 2 nights of free accommodation, you choose to spend a night in a marina to recharge your batteries.

No power at the marrekrite places.

At the Marrekrite sites, you are one with nature, which is why there are no power supplies. The boats have sufficient batteries to keep the lights etc. running. Please note that the fridge takes a lot of power and you will need an external power supply if you are not using it.
