Because autumn is a bit chilly, it is extra fun to combine boating with a visit to the historic villages or towns of Friesland. Here you can relax and enjoy a nice cup of coffee or chocolate milk. There are also a lot of nice museums and historical monuments to find in Friesland, how about the Woudage pumping station in Lemmer? Definitely a must to go.

It will probably happen that there are less sunny days in autumn than in summer. Fortunately, all our boats are equipped with a seating area and a cosy interior. So it rains once in a while? No problem, now you can finally take your time and play a game or finally read that book that has been lying around for a year!
Heat in autumn
It won't be very warm in autumn, that's why we have central heating in all our boats, so you will always be warm. Also almost all boats have the possibility to steer inside, or on the larger cruisers to put a hood off. This way you will always be warm and dry! Don't forget to bring your hot chocolate if you are sailing the ship on a colder day!

Tips for boat hire in autumn/after year
We recommend that you bring extra clothing, an umbrella and a raincoat. Always leave the boat well prepared, you never know what the weather will do. Keep an eye on the weather forecast, you can start planning on this. Is the weather less? Then do activities indoors, so you have time to enjoy the nicer days outside!
Familiar sailing in autumn
Just now, Captain? That's all right, it can be quite exciting to float around with 10 boats before the bridge goes up. In the autumn there will be a lot less boats and you won't be bothered by that!
Bridge times in autumn
If you go out in the autumn, the bridges will still be served a lot. In summer this is from 9:00 to 20:00. In the spring and autumn this is shortened by an hour from 9:00 to 19:00. The bridges that are operated manually often have a break between 12:00-13:00 and 16:00-17:00. Tip: Bring change, this is needed to pay for the manually operated bridges.
Choosing a boat
When choosing a boat in the colder months we advise to choose a boat with covered steering wheel. All our boats have central heating, but not all boats have covered steering. This is nice if the weather is less! Most of our fleet consists of boats with inside and outside steering wheel.
